Leading Indian actor Irrfan Khan passed away at age 53 after admission to a colon infection hospital in MUMBAI this week. We lost GEM today...
The neuroendocrine tumor was diagnosed in 2018 but proceeded to function with LIFE OF PI, LUNCHBOX, and JURASSIC World Star.
A touching statement from Khan's family to the Indian media read "I trust, I have given up"; these were some of the many words that Irrfan spoke about his cancer struggle in a very heartfelt note he wrote in 2018. And a few words man with dark eyes and unforgettable on-screen acts, a maker with silent expressions. It is said that we have to tell him this day that it's gone. Irrfan has been a powerful spirit, someone who has been fighting until the very end and always inspired everyone around him. Since he got the news of rare cancer in the lightning of 2018, he took life shortly after it arrived, suffering from the other struggles. He left for heaven, surrounded by his friends, his family for whom he most cared, and left a legacy of his own. We are all praying and we hope he's calm. He had said, "As if for the first time I was tasting life, the mystical side of it" to resonate and express with his words.
Khan has won multiple awards over a 30-year career, including the National Film Award and the Video Awards, and has been one of India's finest actors and lauded for his tranquilizing and engaging presence on the screen.
In INDIA, he was renowned for successful films such as Paan Singh Tomar, Haider, Gunday, and Hindi Medium's Box Office.
But in the world and US markets he also accomplished impressive achievements. The Warrior was named by BAFTA in 2001; Cannes was one of the best films of 2013. The Lunchbox was widely recognized. Multi-Oscar winners include Life Of Pi, The Darjeeling Limited, The Incredible Spider-Man, Jurassic World, and Inferno. Bollywood pic Angrezi Medium was Khan's last film, which hit screens days prior to the announcement of the lock-down.
It's incomplete with your sir if Indian film has a dictionary of life. You stay on the television until the last person is alive. You will stay forever in thoughts, souls, dreams, lives. I wish you hadn't got this early sir at my doorstep.
But then as you say,
"I suppose in the end, the whole life becomes an act of
letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say
GOODBYE"
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEART
